🐺 BENAVIDES REMAKES HISTORY FOR DILLEY XC: 10 YEAR DROUGHT IS OVER🐺
Dilley Cross Country standout Josiah Benavides finished 14th place with a time of 17:24, officially earning his spot at the 2025 UIL State Cross Country Championships in Round Rock, Texas, on October 31st @ 8:45am.
This marks a historic moment for Dilley Cross Country—Benavides becomes the first Dilley boy to qualify for State since 2015, when Noe Garcia Jr. represented the Wolves a full decade ago. Dilley community, fans, and staff: please join us in celebrating Josiah’s remarkable achievement and wishing him the best of luck as he will be competing amongst the state’s best at Old Settlers Park on Halloween morning.
Congratulations to Josiah and his coaches! Hard work, dedication, and determination have brought pride back to Dilley Cross Country!

🐺 2025 REGION IV CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS INFO🐺
Josiah Benavides will be representing Dilley Cross Country on Monday October 20 @ the 2025 Region IV 3A Cross Country Championships in Corpus Christi! Benavides will have an opportunity to punch his ticket to the 2025 UIL State Cross Country Championships in Round Rock TX on October 31st.
We will have a send off tomorrow @ 12:30pm, and we hope you’d join us in sending Josiah off! Route will start at the track, get onto FM 117 going towards Jalisco, turn right onto Main St, then straight to hwy 85 to Corpus!

Dilley ISD Teams Up with Grand Canyon University!
The Stronger Connections team continues its partnership with Grand Canyon University (GCU), established last year. This week, the team visited the GCU campus in Phoenix, Arizona, for an engaging tour and collaboration meeting.
Through this partnership, Dilley ISD employees have the opportunity to pursue online degree programs with discounted benefits.
Staff interested in GCU’s online programs can contact the Stronger Connections Department to schedule a meeting. A GCU representative will be available on October 15th, prior to the Career Fair, to answer questions and provide more information.
Additionally, GCU offers an all-expenses-paid campus tour for high school seniors! Stay tuned for more details on the upcoming GCU Discover Trip later this semester.

🐺 2025 DISTRICT 28-AAA CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS 🐺
The Dilley XC Teams competed this morning on their home course at the 2025 District 28-3A Cross Country Championships. The Varsity Boys team was led by Junior Josiah Benavides who earned a 7th place finish in the VB division. The Varsity Girls were led by Freshman Harvest Viesca who finished 12th in the VG division. The JV Boys were led by Rodrigo Cardenas who placed 4th in the JVB division. Congratulations to all of our runners on a good season overall: it was one full of memories, PR’s, experiences, laughter, and competition!
