Due to the recent national scare of the Momo Challenge, Dilley ISD has taken increased steps to monitor its online platforms on campuses, and educate its staff to monitor students with their own devices, and to warn parents of this challenge when students are away from school.

The character known as Momo allegedly targets young children by encouraging them to text a number on WhatsApp, which then sends them instructions to complete a series of increasingly bizarre and dangerous tasks from watching a horror movie to engaging in self-harm.

The scare has recently hit YouTube and YouTube Kids where a public warning has been issued.

At Dilley ISD, the district’s network administrators monitor activity from YouTube and YouTube Kids channels consistently. Any malicious and/or inappropriate activity will be blocked from our network. We also encourage parents/guardians to take precautions at home and monitor your students away from school.
