*****State Qualifiers**** Today Christopher Medrano has been declared our Regional Champion!!! He will be competing at the State Powerlifting Championships while representing Dilley. Bubba Reyes will also be representing the Wolves at the State Powerlifting Championships with a strong 3rd place regional finish! Miguel Suarez made Dilley proud with a 5th place finish. ***WORD FROM COACH TORRES*** We hosted our Wolfpack Relays last night and the girls track team had another great showing. Times continue to improve as we head into spring break. Alyssa Perez and Dakota San Miguel led the varsity team to a 3rd place finish. Both had first place finishes in the long jump and discus. Dakota also finished 2nd in the shot put. Reagan Furnace continues to improve in the high jump and came out with a 3rd place finish. Chloe Rodriguez also chipped in a 3rd place finish in the 800m run. In the JV division, Lily Ayala led the team with 2nd place finishes in the long jump and triple jump. ****New MS Record**** 8th Grader Matthew Montoya breaks the MHMS 400m record set by his OLDER COUSIN and coach James Rodriguez back in 2011. Coach Rodriguez's record was 56.0 seconds. *** WORDS FROM COACH RODRIGUEZ*** Last night we hosted our 2024 Wolfpack Relays that featured 10 total teams. The Boys track team had another stellar performance with times across the board continuing to improve as we head into spring break! JV Boys were led by Freshman Abel Trevino (being the top JV male athlete of the meet scoring 25 points). The V Boys were led by Senior Dorian Aranda (being the top V male athlete scoring 45 points), earning 5 1st place finishes in his given events. We had quite a few JV and V boys filling the stat sheets in their respective events to score the most points possible. It was good for our athletes to see the results of their hard work put in day in and day out. We are less than 4 weeks out from district competition, and we're looking to continue with improvement across the board, and make necessary changes to compete for the District 28-3A Championship. Lytle beat us by 26 points yesterday at the V level and we came behind them as District Runner Up Champions in 2023 at both the JV/V level.
