Dilley ISD Family and Friends,
It is with deep sadness that we inform you about the passing of our beloved elementary teacher, Mr. David Sharkey.
Mr. Sharkey unexpectedly had a cardiac event, had emergency surgery and sadly passed away last night, December 27, 2021. David worked for Dilley ISD for six years and played an important role at Dilley Elementary School as one of our fourth grade teachers. Staff, students, parents and the community alike all loved and appreciated him for his efforts, contributions and kindness to one and all.
Our hearts go out to David's family at this difficult time. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
David's funeral is currently being planned by his family.
Upon return on Monday, January 3rd grief counselors will be available for staff from 8:00 a m. to Noon at Dilley Elementary School and for students and staff on Tuesday, January 4th, All Day!
If you have children who were in Mr. Sharkey's class or who knew him, please take a moment to share with them what has happened. Encourage them to share their feelings (sometimes a drawing, a poem, a song, or other ways for kids to remember him can be helpful in expressing their feelings of loss and sadness in a healthy and healing manner).
