Congratulations to the Lady Wolves Varsity Softball Team on their 2^nd place finish at the 10 team Lady Wolves Big Bash Softball Tournament this past weekend.  The Lady Wolves opened up tournament play against Charlotte. After a rough start the Lady Wolves bounced back to defeat the Lady Trojans 9-6. In the second game The Lady Wolves took on Crystal City.  Trailing in the bottom of the 7^th inning 5-4, the Lady Wolves rallied as Adrianna Molina, Larissa Garcia, and Ronica Rodriguez provided the hitting fireworks to defeat the Lady Javelinas 5-4.  In the 3^rd game the Lady Wolves took care of the Sabinal Lady Jackets with ease, cruising to a 10-0 run rule victory.  The Lady Wolves then faced the La Pryor Lady Bulldogs defeating them in a close ballgame 5-3.  The 4 Straight victories put the Lady Wolves in the Championship game against 3A power Devine.  The Lady Arabians took advantage of 8 uncharacteristic Lady Wolves errors and cruised to an easy victory claiming the Championship for the second straight year.  Earning the pitching victories for the Lady Wolves were Larissa Garcia who pitched against Charlotte.  Unike Rodriguez gathered victories over Sabinal and La Pryor, while Bria Ramirez earned a victory over Crystal City coming in relief of Unike.  Ramirez also provided relief work in each of the games played.   Leading hitters for the tournament were:  Mel DeLeon who had 8 hits at 12 at bats while Larissa Garcia and Crystal Zepeda each collected 6 hits at 13 and 14 at bats.  Having good defensive performances were:  third basemen-Adrianna Molina, shortstop-Mel DeLeon, 1^st basemen-Bria Ramirez, 2^nd basemen-Rosalie Rodriguez, and Catcher-Crystal Zepeda.  All Tournament players were Pitchers Unike Rodriguez, Bria Ramirez, and Lady Wolves leading tournament hitter-Mel DeLeon.  Lady Wolves record for the season stands at 5 wins and 1 loss.  The Lady Wolves will be playing here on Tuesday Feb. 24 against Charlotte.  JV will start at 5:00PM and Varsity at 7:00PM.  Come out and support your Lady Wolves.
