All Schools: Open from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Students, faculty and staff sign out materials by given barcode numbers. Community members may sign out materials by filling out an information card.

General Rules for All Libraries:

1. Maintain quiet, conduct yourself in an orderly manner, show respect for the rights of others and the library staff.
2. Internet access to qualified users. Resources: EBSCO, NEWSBANK, & BRITANNICA
3. Library Computers are for research and schoolwork ONLY.
4. Students must have passes or be accompanied by a teacher/staff member.
5. Books and materials are due on time!
6. School records will be held for lost items and non-payment of fines.

High School: Regular checkout period two weeks. Overdue Fines are calculated at $.10 per item per school day (days of absence are excused). Reference Books and Magazines may be checked out overnight. Fines on these are $.25 per item, per school day.

Middle School: Regular check-out period two weeks. Overdue fines are calculated at $.05 per item per school day (days of absence are excused). Reference Books and Magazines may be checked out overnight.

Elementary School: Regular check-out period one week. Weekly visits with teachers. No fines are charged. Magazines may be checked out the same as books. Students are responsible for lost items.

Special Programs:

Accelerated Reader (all 3 libraries): a computerized testing program for certain library books. Students read the book, take the test and are awarded points for passing which can be accumulated for prizes.

Reading Counts (High School Only): also a computerized testing program for library books. Students may make their own tests for books that do not have a test. Rules are available in the library.

Book fairs: (Elementary and Middle School) Books and other items are available for sale that stimulate reading and bring profits in the form of extra library books and money that can be used to purchase books or other needed library items.

Family Reading Night: (Elementary only) One night each week for family members to visit the library with children, read, and help with book selection. Family members may also check out books for reading at home.

Teachers and Library Services:

Consider the Library Staff your extra resource persons.
Turn in suggestions you have at any time for any type of materials.
Include your equipment/media needs on the library needs assessment list.
Ask the Librarian/Library Aide for:

        • Units of study on any given topic
        • Assistance with research projects
        • Assistance with teaching library skills
        • Book reviews and/or author talks
        • Readings from any curriculum-reading topic
        • Books to be placed on reserve for your classes
        • A Classroom collection

Make use of the professional collection in each library.
Feel free to use the library for your own reading, study, research, etc.
